PC Maple Install

This procedure is a kludge to avoid having to log into the server which runs the license daemon. Rather than user profile(s) being stored in a shared directory on the server, the user profile(s) are stored in a directory on the local machine. The locally installed program still contacts the license server in order to receive a license. The installation program only allows a network drive to be specified as the user profile directory.

• Determine the PC's Computer Name

  • Start, then control panel, then network, then identification tab. Note the computer name

• Create a Shared \maple\Users directory on the local machine
  • My computer, then c:, then right-click, new, folder. Then right click on the folder and name as 'maple'
• Create a Users folder within the maple folder
  • open maple folder, then right-click, new, folder. Then right click on the folder and name as 'Users
• Share the maple folder
  • Right click on folder, then sharing, then Shared as, then full, then enter password.
• From CD, run setup in the windows, network directory
  • Accept default program installation directory (\program files\maple 6
  • On the 'User Profile Setup' panel.
    • Select 'Single user profile'
    • For the Directory, select browse. In the path box, enter \\machine_name\maple\Users
  • On the license manager screen, enter 141.217.111.221.
• Edit license file to add the highlighted information. (c:\Program Files\Maple 6\license\license.dat)
